English and Chinese are both fine

Those older establishments like in Street 51 to the 1×× along the river mostly speaks English

But if U look for KTV gals, mostly speaks Chinese these days to cater to those rich PRC businessmen working or holiday in Cambodia.

Those OL, waitress and etc. are half/ half... most either speaks English or Chinese to various degree of fluency though...

But most important, brings enough USD$, everyone speaks the "International language"... "$$$"... especially, in Cambodia...

Change here, of course... rate there is BAD!!

Depending on how many days U are there, just go there and change about USD$10-30 to Riels at money changer for taking moto and other miscellaneous expenses

Pay later if U are picking gals from pubs, freelance or low-end KTVs

Pay upfront when U are at higher end establishment like CASA, the Mummy will collect the money from you upfront. Tipping of USD$10-20 for Mummy is expected but U can chose to ignore and not gives... but think how U may be treated on your next trip there...

Those who can speak Chinese are either Viet or PRC in KTVs.... Out of 100, only 1 or 2 Cambodian can speak Chinese.

On the street, majority of Cambodian dun speak Chinese, except only a small portion of Chinese Khmer. You may find a few who can speak Chinese in Chinese restaurant, market....but definitely not what u mentioned 50-50.
