Re: Thai Amulets...

sorry for asking a dumb question here.

but how do Thai Buddhist amulets work?

I thought that Buddhist doctrine is that one must accumulate good karma through good deeds, good actions, good thoughts etc..

With good karma, good things and protection come your way..

How does an amulet fit into this? can buy good things and protection one meh?

No need to go BKK to get. Even if you go BKK, u also won't know if you are getting a genuine piece. Try to ask around in here, or pm bro necromancer. I am sure he has something suitable for you. Khun Paen is a good choice. Also you can read up on this type of Khun Paen before you get it. Just do a search on the internet you will get tonnes of info.

If bro necromancer don't have one on hand for you, walk about places like Fu Lu Shou and Chinatown. However, be wary of the fakes out there.

Thai amulets like Somdej, Luang Pu Thuad are more for protection. Somdej amulets carry an image of the Lord Buddha and Luang Pu Thuad, as the name suggests, carries the image of a rev monk. People believe that the amulets are there for 'addition' protection or to ward off and lessen the impact of anything bad that happens to the wearer, as people who wore them experienced unexplainable 'escape' from injuries or even death, like how Luang Pu Thuad amulets are well known to be able to ward off/lessen injuries in car accidents.

This has been discussed many times, if you do evil, no matter what amulet you wear, the deeds will catch up with you.

Hi Bro Bodhisattva,

How do we know if the amulet that we are buying is genuine or fake?
If we go those "branded" shop in Fu Lu Shou, can we assume that all the amulets there are genuine?

Thanks
