Singaporeans discriminate against China and Vietnamese ladies. My wife is very fair, so often, she is being mistaken as a chinese gal. The scores of discrimination coming from the typical singaporean lady and their mothers..... you just will not see as much of such discrimination from others if their daughters marry SWM. Yes, there are scores of sad stories coming from marriages with foreign spouses, but there are just as many good stories. As about leaving singapore for good, i will not do that. As a businessman who has stayed in both Vietnam and singapore, i still feel singapore has more opportunities to earn bigger bucks. Yes, opportunities are there in Vietnam too. But the large depreication of the Vietnamese Dong has hurt foreign businesses like mine hard. For me, Singapore still promises me better opportunities, better living enviornment for my family ,better education for my children and better healthcare. But all these BETTER comes at a high price, got to work really hard if want to enjoy all these BETTER facilities in Singapore. Most singaporeans in Vietnam will not have such thoughts until they have family, kids and suffer from some health problems.

Yes Batty. More singapore graduates are marrying vietnamese spouses too and this number has been growing steadily over the years. We have to be proud of our spouses first before others will think of them differently. I always quote the example of how my wife took care of me for the last 1 year plus after i fell ill and had a major spinal operation in Vietnam. I am sure what my wife did for me is not what most singaporean woman would have done if their husbands fell ill like me. My wife stood by me and is still standing by me, taking care of me, bore me 3 beautiful children and help me to take care of my viet business. She's a capable wife. I am sure many of our bros have good vietnamese spouses too. Be proud of yr viet spouse, treat them well, understand them and love them.

Re: Understanding Vietnamese Life Partner

I respect your views. It is rationale and well-balanced and not 'hot-headed'.

Having staying for quite a few months in Shenzhen/Guangzhou I do understand that other countries may provide better business opportunities but it come with a cost - such as social, health, security etc.

If you are more mature and have a family, Singapore does provide a more secure environment although it does have many short-comings - which country don't have. For those who are young and prepare to take some risks it will be worthwhile to try your luck overseas for a while and then decide whether to come back after making your fortune. You MAY find later on that Singapore does provide a more secure and better living standard than most countries.

Yes so many stories, in hanoi, danang and hcm. I think the Aus guy is refering to new Huong Duong (cant remember the spelling) Disco in Danang where she met the girl. At the bar counter they have four to five girls in white sexy shorts that serve drinks and at every hour they will jump on top of the bar counter to do sexy dancing while we ooogle at them....

Well, if one wants to walk into the trap and play, better get ready to write the same script again. But some guys likes to play this kind of game just to boost their ego but once beaten dont come home crying.....

After so many years in VN, I still dont understand the vietnamese way of life....but it is always portrayed as No Tomorrow or Tomorrow Never Comes whether in business or kc or relationship.

Quite true if one is interested to play the interesting game and to be the king of the jungle, make sure you think with your big head instead of the small head....but usually the small head will take over all the thinking when the time comes....

Yes fully agree, not all are bad apples and there are good ones too....yes open your eyes...

You really want to retire in HCMC? I know the cost of living is only 25-30% of S'pore. Aren't you bother by the noise pollution, air pollution, and the traffic jams? Why not choose Bao Loc(Lam Dong) or Phu Quoc Island or Nha Trang?

That's depends on what sector your business is dealing with.

Doing business in Singapore has it good n bad, just like oversea. In Singapore everything goes smoothly with black and white, unhappy get a lawyer. In oversea, money n relationship makes wonder.

Having stayed in different cities for more than 5 yrs, I still prefer life in Singapore, I will want my kid to stay in Singapore when young to enjoy the education, the security and facilities.
