I guess even if we had won that match, and if we got those horrendous injuries to Speedy and Garcia, we wouldn't be able to go very far in the Cup and EPL anyway. So, maybe it is better for us. Quote:
Quite an interesting coincidence that all those injured folks come from the left side of the team hor .... Garcia, Speedy, Warnok. Maybe the letf side got some black magic ... Now who do we have left on the left? Only Riise and Fabio. Jialat. Cheers |

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
RAFA: WE ALL WANT THE BEST FOR LIVERPOOL
Paul Eaton 12 January 2007 Rafael Benitez has insisted he and the club's board are working together to ensure a bright and successful future at Anfield. The Reds' boss is disappointed with the media coverage which followed his side's Carling Cup defeat to Arsenal, and frustrated with suggestions there are problems between himself and the board. Benitez has backed up his thoughts by launching a defence of his managerial record so far and he insists he has the faith and trust of everyone at the club to bring more trophies back to Anfield. "I'm really disappointed in the way things have been presented and misinterpreted since yesterday morning," he said. "I have no problem with my board. This club is going in the right direction, and I was brought here to improve our situation. "We have done this in two years by winning big trophies, winning more Premiership points than we've had for 17 years and bringing in players whose value has doubled. "Three years ago we had players like Diouf and Cheyrou who we couldn't sell. Look at the value of their replacements compared to the price we paid for them. "The board brought me to win the Premiership, not to get to the semi-final of the Carling Cup. My relationship with them is fantastic and they have been doing their best for a long time to help bring more success. Rick Parry and the Chairman want the best for Liverpool, as we all do. "That's why they are talking to new investors and that's why they brought me here. Why are they doing this? To help build a new stadium and to buy top class players in the future. "Liverpool have been 17 years without winning the Premiership, so tell me what's our main priority?" he added. "Nobody wants to lose. "It's disappointing we lost, and more disappointing how we lost, but we have to look at our squad and set priorities. We have shown how much we are progressing and people who analyse the whole situation understand. "The future of Liverpool is not the semi-final of the Carling Cup, it is challenging for the Premiership and Champions League. The Carling Cup is always a good option, but it is not the biggest priority. "People talked about the team selection because they have no understanding of the whole situation. We need to finish in the top four to qualify for the Champions League and buy more top players. We have Manchester United, Chelsea and Barcelona to come here soon. Those games are more important. "We will make mistakes, but when you look at the bigger picture you can see how much progress has been made." (Extracted from www.liverpoolfc.tv) Hey bro canthaveenuf, I guess I was pretty correct about Rafa wanting to consolidate our position in the EPL & progress further in the CL... He always looks at the big picture... Also, knowing how the damned English press can be, Rafa didn't really wash dirty linen in the public, but was maybe misquoted, as always... as mentioned above... Well, to better results for the rest of the EPL & CL season... IN RAFA WE TRUST...!!

REDS SIGN ITALIAN GOALKEEPER
Paul Eaton 12 January 2007 Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Italian under-21 goalkeeper Daniele Padelli from Sampdoria, subject to international clearance. Padelli, who was on loan with second division Crotone in the first half of the season, has signed until the end of the season when the Reds will have the option to agree a permanent deal. "He's a good young goalkeeper who has been selected for his national side," said manager Rafael Benitez. "Our scouting department are working really hard to bring good young players to the club and I'm delighted we have been able to sign Padelli." (Extracted from www. liverpoolfc.tv) Finally, the above news is official... Well, looks like the end is nigh for our distraught Dudek... Will always be remembered more as a legend then someone who let in 9 goals in 2 consecutive matches...IMHO... Wonder if any bros here know more about our new signing, Padelli...

Super Swede will cost Liverpool £7M
(from tribalfooball.com) Liverpool have agreed a deal for 16-year-old Swedish striker Astrit Ajdarevic. Ajdarevic is expected to move to Liverpool for a fee of around £2 million from Falkenburg. "It's the biggest deal I have ever made," Falkenburg chairman Lars-Eric Nilsson told Hallands Nyheter. "It's rare for a player of his age, it's impressive. We went back and forth for a while but I liked doing business with Liverpool and I had a feeling we could make a good deal in the end." Reports suggest the deal could rise to £7 million. |

Good luck to him. How abt Pepe? Could Padelli be brought in to replace Pepe? Pepe had always wanted to go back to Spain and he seems to be rather unfocused lately. Maybe Rafa needs to purchase another goalie. Buffon is available. Cheers |

As a player, he's been one helluva servant ... he's even more "utility" than Carragher, having been played as striker once or twice when the injury list was huge. Such a man can only be a good & loyal manager for the Reds. Quote:

For Dudek's case, letting in 9 goals in 2 matches & holding the worst Anfield record since the war is not going to do his confidence any good ... for a goalkeeper, that's everything. So, he will hafta go ... sooner or later. Quote:
Padelli only represents the future ... after all, he's not even played at the highest level back in Italy. Even if we get Buffon, I'm not sure he won't get a culture shock on what the little tricks referees allow against the goalies ... the number of high balls a continental keeper has to handle in EPL is another thing they need to overcome too. So, who do we have to take over from Dudek?? Well, remember Scott Carson?? He's still on our books ...

But who struck the fatal blow was Souness. I don't think any other manager would have done worst with the players he brought in and the rift he caused in the club. |

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Quote:
1) the baggage of LFC's glorious reign ... think about it: it took us how many years to accept the fact that LFC cannot be winning everything for 30 years running ... or have we?? 2) the bootroom concept ... it had to be someone from the ranks, therefore someone who has yet made a name for himself (as a manager) ... in other words, someone who is just a great LFC player previously. 3) the Pinnochio called Phil Thompson ... this big-nose is so big-headed he's ruined LFC twice becoz of his big ego; the 1st time, Souness had to sack him as reserve manager & the 2nd time, Houllier backed him over Fowler.
