for bros or 1st timers who are gg phuket during tis "low season" (May-Sept), do take note tat prices (shopping, food) nvr really gone dwn as most ppl are avoiding bangkok due to the riots and redirecting to phuket mostly. tis is wat i heard frm the thai gal over there. so be prepare for a bargaining war, a hint most prices will be mark up abt 50-60%.

if u hv a detailed map, its always cheaper to rent a car (600-1000baht/day) or bike (250-300baht/day). patrol is dirt cheap over there & always go to a patrol kiosk to pump & not those small carts which sells gas in a bottle.
its cheaper to travel tis way compared to the taxi. taxi its much more exp compared to sg imo.

I was already buzzing after 5 beers even before I reach Bangla, so I cannot remember name of the joints. Was the hotel you got the massage called Pearl hotel? If so, it's one of the oldest hotels in Phuket and that massage place has been there since the hotel opened. The girls in there probably been working there since they opened as well. Hahaha... By the way, never ask taxi drivers to bring you to any massage joints, jewellery shop, etc. They all make a commission out of it and you are the one that pays for it. Find out where you want to go and then just tell the taxi to take you there.

As for the bad service in restaurants etc. I find it a bit surprising as Thais in general are not like that. Maybe it's a bit of misunderstanding and not understanding each other's languages? Anyway, I'm sorry that happened to you.
