SINGAPORE: A licensee of Hotel 81 has been charged with five counts of allowing his rooms to be used for prostitution activities.

41-year-old Chu Poh Yong from the popular budget hotel chain is believed to have committed the offences at two of its branches between April 27 and June 19 this year.

They are Hotel 81 Cosy at Jiak Chuan Road in the Chinatown area and Hotel 81 Mayo at Jalan Besar.

Chu will be back in court on August 31.

He isn't the first budget hotel licensee to be hauled to court for allegedly allowing sex workers to operate in his property.

52-year-old Siah Chen Long who runs Shing Hotel at Kitchener Road in Little India pleaded guilty to a similar offence in April this year.

A licensee who knowingly allows sex workers to ply their trade within his property breaches the Hotels Licensing Regulations.

He could be fined up to S$1,000.

For a second or subsequent conviction, the licensee could be fined the maximum S$2,000.

The hotel's certificates of registration may be cancelled or suspended.

Its licenses may also be cancelled.

I doubt so. The AV raid at Gelyang has been going on for 1 year? What make you think they will stop this after YOG. This time i think they are showing their intent.

Just curious, how to they prove that there is prostitution going on inside a hotel room. It not like in a massage parlour or a HC. Even if the AV enter the room and see you with a FL, can't it be a normal fling that just occur in a hotel room. I know that in states for the police to charge you/the fl for prostitution, they need to prove that there was a monetary transcation that had taken place.
