Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

On any other day, I may have accepted a 2-2 draw against the champions. On a day when we were playing better (partly cos City were not at their best) but let in a stupid goal for them to equalise, it somewhat dampened the mood. Still, we can take in consolation of an overall encouraging display which we played with better teamwork and more urgency.

What I was disappointed tonite was SG and Borini's rather jaded performance. Suarez, although troubled City with his trickeries was wasteful on a few occasions which his delivery in the opposition's box was disappointing.

If we can put on big performances like this (less the defensive lapses of cos), and with the arrival of 2 supposed high quality players Assaidi and Sahin, Im confident we could go on to beat Arse and Scums in the next two home games!

Borini is only so so..... I have not been impressed by his performance since coming to LFC..... and he missed a sitter tonight !

Joe Allen is good.... he has game intelligence or "streetsmarts" to those in the game. This quality cannot be taught and is inborn.... either you have it or you don't. He will go very far in his career. I predict he could even surpass Steven Gerrad in time to come if he remains long enough in Liverpool.

Rahim Sterling is another up and coming talent..... but I noticed he trailed off later in the game after being subjected to hard physical challenges from the Man City defence. I hope he is not the easily intimidated type.

Sahin's arrival is timely with the injury to Lucas.... looks like Lucas came back too soon from his previous injury.

geez its 2 points lost, silly errors cost us the game,we were cruising when we were 2-1 up,why did kelly try to control the the ball in the box when he cld have cleared it first time, skrtl passed without looking but was encouraged by the team s performance.many felt that city did not play well but i felt that we made it difficult for them.hopefully we will build frm here.bring on the gooners and the scums.

I think it was a good result. We had a number of new faces in the side - Coates and Sterling both of whom did pretty well.

City showed their quality - they were dangerous and technically sound, so it was difficult to defend against them. Of course the goals we gave away were disappointing.

Very impressed by Allen too, although he is a bit weak in defence. We need someone who can sit in front of the defence now that Lucas is injured.

I was encouraged to see Liverpool playing youngsters and put in such a good performance. After this performance, the other teams will have to take notice. The Defending Champions had to work hard to earn a draw and thanks to Liverpool gifts. When was the last time, we had a 17 yr old playing so well since Michael Owen.

Think moving ahead we will see more and better games...of course the rebuilding starts now...

I was impressed by BR and keep my fingers crossed...

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

I was thinking a 1-1 draw.....a lot of ppl are saying Pool will be thrashed.....

Well it was 2-2....

The funny thing about Pool is they raised their game against top teams...but fare bad against supposed weak teams.
With surprised draws n shock loss at times.

Nothing wrong with Pool.....they just need to be consistent.....

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

I hope we can be more careful in using Sterling. Yes he is a wonderful talent but his body is still growing up. If we don't manage him well, his body is going to break down as often as Micheal Owen's body. Sterling played 90 mins against Hearts on Thursday and another 90 mins against Man City on Sunday. There is something few footballers can do these days, let alone a young man whose body is still growing.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

yes i agree we must be careful when using Sterling. the exposure that a 17 year old gets playing one of the biggest matches is a big confidence booster for RS.

Liverpool always gets careless when leading the game. playing the ball in our own half always gives me the shivers.

Where is the new winger Oussama? Why doesn't BR play him?

Oredi killed by Seal Team Six last year in Pakistan.

Let's hope his namesake Oussama is able to similarly strike fear into our opponents with his wing play.

Maybe the transfer wasn't done in time to get international clearance. Plus he needs to settle in and train with the group first to know how BR's system is like. Let's keep our fingers crossed for the new match. Maybe he will feature as a substitute against Hearts.

No, he won't be able to play against Hearts in the Europa League because he is cup-tied having played for his previous club Heerenveen in the qualifying rounds. But if Liverpool were to qualify for the group stage, he will be eligible to play for Liverpool then..

So he will be like Nabil El Zhar.... to be kept until towards the end of the season when run out of players then use him.
