i received the above PM from a brother who claim to be a Red Devil.
if all Devils are like this brother, then forgive me for saying this - he is a lousy winner.
i know there are bound to be some supporters who just cannot accept any comments or opinions about their belove clubs.
if they disagree, they can always post their comments, these are the "blacksheeps" among those geniune supporters.
i am not saying that,it is only the Devils, there are also some of these people from my belove club - Liverpool and the rest also.

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours

Arsenal was unlucky not to lead all the way from start to finish, they lost many key players through long term injuries. By right, they should be the winners but I feel what their manager said was right... that they were very unlucky.

Man U and Chelsea both are quality teams and Man U as always had the desire and the advantage for Man U is that they have quick young and good players who are english overall and therefore they are more committed to play and win.

Parade To Be Delayed If United Win

Manchester United have decided to postpone their official homecoming if they triumph over Chelsea in the Champions League Final on Wednesday.

It had been anticipated the Red Devils would embark on a victory parade on Thursday if they returned from Moscow victorious.

However, mindful of the violence that accompanied Wednesday's UEFA Cup Final, city councillors were in no mood to allow more football fans to pour onto the streets as Rangers' did this week.

After consultation between the Council, police and United, it has been decided to postpone the trophy celebrations for a couple of months.

No precise date has been set, with club officials keen to stress Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's testimonial on August 2 has not been discussed, even though the encounter with Espanyol will almost certainly be the only time Sir Alex Ferguson's side are in action on home soil before the new Barclays Premier League campaign gets underway a fortnight later.

"Manchester City Council, Trafford Council, GMP (Greater Manchester Police) and Manchester United are working together to identify suitable opportunities to celebrate United's achievements this season,'' said a joint statement.

"Any event would take place during the summer.

"Given the necessary logistical demands to ensure security and safety, there will not be a parade immediately following the UEFA Champions League Final next week.''

Premier League - Saha: I could leave United

Injury-plagued striker Louis Saha admits his Manchester United career may almost be at an end - although he hopes he can stay on.

The 29-year-old arrived at Old Trafford from Fulham in a £12million move in January 2004 but his time with the Red Devils has been beset by injury.

As United prepare for the Champions League final against Chelsea next week, the France international concedes it may mark his final involvement with the Premier League champions.

Saha said: "The future isn't in my hands, but I'll try to make it happen for me.

"I know this could be my last game, and I would understand if the manager went for another striker. It would be painful if he did because I love the club so much.

"I can't speak about my future too much really now, though. It's about the club. The main thing is to win the Champions League and maybe that will change things."

Ferguson confident about Champions League pitch

MOSCOW, May 20 (Reuters) - Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson said on Tuesday he was confident about the state of the pitch at the Luzhniki Stadium where his side will play Chelsea in the Champions League final on Wednesday.

'I haven't seen it yet but we have no worries about the pitch,' Ferguson told a news conference before the team trained on the eve of the match.

'I think UEFA have done their best and they will guarantee a good pitch.

'I'm delighted they decided to re-lay it. You have to remind yourself that Old Trafford in December and January isn't the best. I think it will be fine.'

English groundsman Matt Frost, who oversaw the laying of a new natural grass surface at the Moscow stadium, had told the BBC on Monday he was disappointed with the state of the pitch before European club soccer's showpiece occasion.

Chelsea captain John Terry also said the players would not let any doubts over the state of the pitch concern them.

'I've heard it's not been laid too long and not bedded in but it will be the same for both sides,' Terry said at Chelsea's pre-training news conference.

'As long as we get the right footwear we'll be fine. That comes from today, talking with the kitman and getting the right studs. Then you go in tomorrow in the right frame of mind.'

UEFA president Michel Platini also said on Tuesday he was confident about the surface.

'I think we should wait until the players have trained on it and the coaches have seen it first,' Platini said at a news conference. 'They are the ones who will decide on the state of the pitch. But I have not heard of any problems so far.'

UEFA general secretary David Taylor added: 'UEFA officials have seen the pitch and have reported that it is perfectly playable with no problems raised. The only problem is that the colour may not be ideal, but the pitch is playable.'

The new pitch has been laid at a cost of about £160,000 ($312,600) with imported grass from Slovakia after an original grass pitch prepared for the final proved unsuitable.

That grass pitch had replaced the usual synthetic pitch at the stadium.

Manchester United and Chelsea both trained on the pitch on Tuesday evening after the teams arrived in the Russian capital on Monday night.

Fergie wants to add glory to Man Utd tradition

MOSCOW, May 20 (Reuters) - Alex Ferguson said he owed it to the tradition of Manchester United to overcome Chelsea on Wednesday, half a century after his club blazed the trail that now culminates in the first all-English Champions League final.

Ferguson, in charge of United for 22 years, has always been full of respect for those who went before him and said the presence of some survivors from the 1958 Munich air disaster at the game would add further poignancy to the occasion.

'We are proud to have followed in those footsteps,' he told a news conference at the Luzhniki Stadium on Tuesday.

'There's no doubt in my mind that the real start of this great club was Sir Matt (Busby). It was ironic that it was Chelsea who should have been England's first entry to the European Cup but the FA didn't want them to go in.

'But Sir Matt had the courage and the vision and you've seen where English football has progressed because of that, so I'm proud of that history and we won't let them down.'

For all that tradition, however, United's record of two European Cups (1968 and 1999) and one Cup Winners' Cup (1991) looks feeble alongside the bulging cabinets of European gioants like Real Madrid, AC Milan and Liverpool.

It is a situation Ferguson is all too aware of.

'Our history is an illustrious one but there is a weakness in terms of the number of European trophies we've won,' he said. 'I hope we can go some way towards making that better tomorrow night.'

Ferguson appeared unusually laid back at the packed news conference, a condition at odds with his usual demeanour in front of the media, and seemed to be revelling in the occasion.

'I feel good, I'm relaxed -- I should be, this is my fourth European final -- two Cup Winners' Cups and two Champions League,' he said, adding Aberdeen's shock 1983 Cup Winners' Cup victory over Real Madrid to his three outings with United.

'I've got experience and, hopefully, the composure to help everyone else.'

Asked, though, if that would be a trump card in his battle with Chelsea manager Avram Grant, who has never been close to a game of such magnitude, Ferguson was less strident.

'My first final was against Real Madrid and (coach) Alfredo di Stefano. I didn't shrivel, I went up and handed them my bottle of whisky, so it's how you approach things.'

Looking ahead to the game, Ferguson claimed not to realise how poor his record was against Chelsea in recent years with only two wins in 14 games across all competitions.

'You mention the record, it's a bad one, but I don't pay attention to those and I back the players to do a job and trust them,' he said.

'Our (overall) record this season and last season demands respect, our consistency in the last two seasons warrants that.'

Ferguson accepted Chelsea had the edge on power but backed his own side's attributes to come to the fore.

'Chelsea are a physically stronger team than most of the Premier League teams but we don't need to match that, there's no point matching that,' he said.

'We have to play with our main strengths -- movement, passing and the ability to create openings. We are good at that and I don't want us to change.

'I think its a very well balanced game.'

Champions League - United win in penalty drama

Edwin Van der Sar saved Nicolas Anelka's spot-kick as Manchester United won the Champions League in a penalty shoot-out against Chelsea after the match finished 1-1 after 120 minutes.

Chelsea seemed favourites when Cristiano Ronaldo missed his penalty, but John Terry slipped and hit the post as he stepped up to win it for Avram Grant's men.

Ronaldo had early scored a first-half header to put United in the lead, but Frank Lampard equalised just before the break

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours

Champions League - United triumph in Moscow

Manchester United were crowned European champions for the third time in their history with a dramatic sudden death penalty shoot-out victory over Chelsea in Moscow.

With the sides level at 1-1 after extra-time, courtesy of first-half goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Frank Lampard, it was left to Edwin Van der Sar to make the decisive save in the shoot-out and hand Sir Alex Ferguson his second European crown.

In an unbearably tense conclusion, Ronaldo's penalty was saved by Petr Cech and John Terry had the chance to win the final. But the Chelsea captain slipped and his effort clipped the post and went wide.

Into sudden death it went, and after Ryan Giggs calmly side-footed home, Van der Sar parried substitute Nicolas Anelka's spot-kick to provide a fitting tribute to those who died in the Munich air disaster 50 years ago.

In an open and entertaining match, there was little to separate the two sides, who both excelled technically and conspired to provide a scintillating night of European football that will live long in the memory. The only stain on an otherwise gleaming advertisement for the Premier League was a late red card for Didier Drogba, after the striker raised his hands to Nemanja Vidic.

United lined up with Ronaldo, Carlos Tevez and Wayne Rooney in a three-pronged attack, and appeared intent on taking the game to Chelsea from the outset.

With Ronaldo driving down the left flank at every opportunity, ably assisted by Patrice Evra, and the duo of Owen Hargreaves and Wes Brown patrolling the right, the Premier League champions looked the most likely for the majority of the first half.

Chelsea were slow to start, and struggled to get Joe Cole and Didier Drogba into the game as a result of United's tireless closing down. Tevez was at his feverish best, denying opponents time on the ball and easing the pressure.

The game's first incident of note came on 21 minutes, when Claude Makelele caught Paul Scholes with a clumsy challenge. While the foul went unpunished, both players were cautioned as a result of the melee which ensued.

Soon after, United took a deserved lead. Brown cut in from the right and sent a clipped left-foot cross to the far post. Ronaldo was being marshalled by Michael Essien, but he pulled away to find space ten yards out and head his 42nd goal of a remarkable season.

To that point Chelsea had offered little in the way of attacking ambition, but on 35 minutes Michael Ballack came desperately close to bring the Blues level. The German midfielder timed his run expertly to meet Drogba's far-post header across, but his effort was superbly saved by Edwin Van der Sar.

Suddenly the game was alive. United broke almost immediately downfield and Ronaldo's low cross was met with flying header from Tevez. Cech saved brilliantly, and recovered to block Michael Carrick's follow-up from the penalty spot.

Two minutes before the interval Tevez came closer still to increasing his side's lead. This time Rooney was the architect, bombing down the right to send over a low cross which evaded the Argentine's desperate lunge by inches.

Somehow Chelsea survived and moments later they were level. Essien's hopeful long-range shot was deflected of first Vidic, and then Ferdinand, to fall neatly into the stride of Lampard. The England midfielder finished with aplomb to send the teams into the break level.

As the second half got under way, Chelsea were visibly buoyed by the goal. Ballack began to assert himself in midfield, and Essien finally got a foothold in his battle with Ronaldo.

The complexion of the game was transformed, and United were now the side hanging on and surviving on scraps in attack. Just after the hour mark, Lampard saw his shot headed behind by Ferdinand, and from his resulting corner Terry leapt highest to head just over the bar.

With a little over 10 minutes remaining, Drogba cut inside and crashed a swerving 20-yard shot against the post with Van der Sar beaten. Chelsea were getting closer, but United remained resolute in defence and refused to capitulate.

The closing minutes of normal time were predictably tense, but there would be no repeat of United's dramatic last-gasp victory in 1999.

Extra-time it was, and within three minutes Chelsea found the woodwork for the second time. This time it was Lampard who was denied, after spinning neatly in the box and shooting left-footed from 10 yards. Van der Sar was once again helpless, but the underside of the bar came to his rescue.

But United soon began to reproduce their first-half form, and came close to scoring themselves. Evra broke down the left and cut back for Ryan Giggs, on as substitute to make his record-breaking 759th appearance for the club. The Welshman connected well, but Terry put his head in the way to deny him a fairytale winner.

With five minutes remaining, and penalties looming, a confrontation broke out between Drogba and Vidic. Players swarmed in, hands were raised, and when the dust settled the Ivorian was sent off for slapping Vidic across the face. It was a petty and ill-advised act from the striker, which was out of character for a match played for most part in a sportsmanlike manner.

With that, went the last meaningful action of the game, and the dreaded penalty shoot-out ensued.

Sadly for Chelsea, Terry spurned a glorious opportunity to hand the side their first European title after Ronaldo's kick was saved, and it was left to Van der Sar to provide the final heroics.

I'm staying....

On a night of European glory, Cristiano Ronaldo gave Reds fans even more reason to celebrate when he quashed rumours that he could join Real Madrid this summer by pledging his future to United.

When asked by a TV reporter whether he would be leaving the club with which he has already achieved so much in his short career, Ronaldo gave the emphatic reply all Reds fans wanted to hear.

“No, no, no. I’m going to stay,” he said.

“When I missed the penalty, I thought we were going to lose,” he said.

“I played well in the game and I scored a goal, but I missed the penalty. I thought it was going to be the worst day of my life.

“But the lads did their jobs. They believed they were going to score, and they scored. Penalties is a lottery, you never know who is going to win, but I think we deserve to win because we played better in the game.

“It means everything to me because we won both trophies, the Champions League and the League, so I feel very happy. It is one of the most happy days of my life. I feel very, very proud.”
