my frd jus graduated with a degree in banking and he can only lands himself with a three mth contract wks. Knn gov telling us no need uni education but all these company are bringing in FT with degree to compete with the locals.

Govt is also telling us to expect a 4.5% pay increment but people around me are getting pathetic 1-2 percent pay raises if they were luckily to get it at all. This is barely enough to cover the high inflation we are facing.

I am also seeing friends losing jobs to the FTs that are flocking in though govt has painted a very rosy picture of a low unemployment.

Seriously, as some bros brought up, I do not feel any happier now as compared to 10yrs ago even though i am making a few times more. Cost of living is going up, medical costs is going up, property prices is going up, car prices is going up, work stress going up, the country is getting more crowded (road and trains), no more job security etc. Even the price of my everyday kopi has gone up from 70-80c to almost $2 now!

The future of our future generations does look quite bleak to me and the govt is still encouraging us to raise more kids. Sometime I feel that i am bringing my kids to this world to suffer... seeing the amount of stress they are facing at such young age. Their childhood is now filled with enrichment classes and tuitions. I am feeling so bad that this is the kind of childhood they will remember but the fear of them lagging behind is pushing me to drive them onto this path.

I am appreciative of the great job the older generation of MIWs have done to this country but I can't say the same for the current batch especially with the huge pay package they are getting.

I love this country and this is precisely why i fear for her existence.

singapore is a country with no resources....bros who complain, please ask urself, could u do better if u are the garment? our country, everyone is spending everywhere, every single day. we are buying from abroad basically everything. have u ever wonder why how come our country is getting richer instead of getting bankrupt? i should say this garment is just doings wonders. look at cambo? their pple is only making less than USD$100 a month. they ask for more and some got killed. philli,indos and many other countries graduate are working as maid in our country. even now alot of angmoh had to go oversea like china to look for a job.
our garment is not perfect but they did do a good job. we are all human but we will be forever be in the rat race. craving for wealth is just part of our human nature. this is happening everywhere around the world. at least you have a better chance to get richer in singapore than u are in many other country. just need to think harder, provide something what few can offer or provide what many dun want to do. den u wont have time or too much to complain anymore.
