I am an white Australian citizen married to an Issan lady. We currently live in LOS with our 6 month old baby girl. I used to be with a Law Enforcement Agency
in Canberra. Now I am a defence lawyer on the other side of the fence.

Those who are regular visitors to the bars in AC would have known or met me. I'm Ian.

bro... hahaa... as long there is contribution to this thread, we all will appreciate for sure. But not just come in and tell us AC is not a nice place anymore and whoever go will be heroes and white knights hahaa... thou its a fact that AC is abit messy now.

Barely a month from my virgin trip to AC, all these negative news really sadden me. Nevertheless, I am just glad I been there at least, really a memorable experience. Am planning a quarterly trip actually. This is really where your SGD works the hardest, its is cheaper the Pattaya, HCM, my personnel feel. The GFE is also top notch.

Just a couple of thoughts in my mind:
1) Do all the budget airline see this coming? Tiger airways stop flying there, Airasia revising the flights?
2) Its not easy to kill off a prominent trade, so where are all these girls in the bar now? Surely they need to earn a living somehow?

I am the legal advisor to several bars in AC and I used to travel there every other week from my home in LOS. Now the bar owners come to LOS to see me instead as they are scared to stay in AC any longer than they need to. Running a bar is no longer profitable in AC. Every centivo that is earned goes into paying off those corrupt bastards. In some cases, the owners have to dig into their own pockets if the amount is not enough.

I hate to be the bearer to bad news...... but I feel that bros should be aware of this new law before they proceed to the PI.

This law was enacted in the Philippines Congress on 23rd July 2012 and approved on 6th February 2013. It is the Republic Act No. 10364 which is basically an amendment to expand the scope of Republic Act No. 9208 (the law governing Human Trafficking).

In simple layman terms..... this new law closes the loophole and YOU ARE GUILTY OF "HUMAN TRAFFICKING" IF YOU HIRE A PROSTITUTE OR ENGAGE IN PORNOGRAPHY (ie. the taking of nude or naked photographs / videos). Take note that this is a non-bailable offence which means if you are charged under this law..... you will remain behind bars until your case goes to Court (which can be years in the PI context).

Read the law carefully..... now for the first time this law has specifically covered "barfines"..... making it illegal. Although it is targeted at the bars, it has provisions to include mamasans and the hirer of the prostitute. This law has only been in force for 4 months but its effect is already being felt within the industry with many managers quitting the scene and owners putting up their businesses for sale.

Mongers traveling to the Philippines please take necessary precautions as the Singapore Embassy WILL NOT offer assistance if you are charged under this Act.

Times are a changing...... so we must also follow the tide and change our habits.
