Happy weekend!

Haha Fion is a boring girl. Boring dinner dates work best on her. No drinks n no leading on any guys lol! Perfect date to her is a dinner with her love + a stroll in the park under the starlite sky

Hope you're better today!

Re: Fion's - nothing to hold on to, how to move on.

Hahaha

Prettymannequin, I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. The showbags were worth it though, no? What did ya get?

Here's a funny anecdote to share with ya'll (sorry for the spam, Ms Fion) on my one visit to the Royal Melb Show, back in '06:

A large group of my collegemates and I (if you've read my story, then this is at the developmental stage of my relationship with Rain, and by a large group, I meant everyone but Skan, and including some Ozzies so it was a pretty impressive group) decided to go see this "big fuss" of a Show, as it was called. What is this show thingie anyway?

It was certainly an eye opener. It's really pretty much a fair, with animals being showcased, goods being displayed, rides of animals offered, the like.

We started off at the animal section. Being from Malaysia where one of my "kampungs" featured cows and goats roaming the streets, farm animals held little interest to me. What did attract my attention were pets. I've always been a cat lover, and on our way past an exhibit, the sweetest, cutest meow brought me to a halt. I absolutely had to hold this cat. It was 6-7 month old kitten, who was waving a paw from its cage, looking at me as if to say "Take me home!". I asked for, and received the kitten in my arms. It stayed in there and purred and purred and purred. I was in love! But alas, it was not to be. I was pinched by my friend and told to hand the "poor kitty" back. Hmmpph!

We went on looking and shopping. One of the highlights of the show was these "showbags", essentially goody bags which you can purchase for a price, and inside would be a myriad of mixed goodies, depending on which stall/theme you bought them from. For example, if you bought a candy show bag, which might cost anywhere from 5 to 15 AUD, you'd get more than your money's worth in mixed chocs and assorted candies.

Then, we entered a huge tent where traders were showing off their goods. Imagine going into a place where everyone was offering samples and giving you "best price". Feels like NTUC on a weekend.

Now, I am a cili addict. The spicier, the better. So I was challenged by my mates to take on the chilli stall, where someone was selling assorted chilli sauces, ranging from 1 (is this even chilli?) to 10* (kill me now my mouth is dying). Being cautious, I started with an 8. They'd give you a cracker and apply some sauce on it. And you ate it. Hmmm, not bad. Let's do a 9. Pretty nice kick, would be nice with my noodles. What about a 10? Like distilled "xiao la jiao", good kick, but well, nothing THAT great. In desperation, the owner brought out, with a flourish, the coup de grace: a 10*.

The previous sauces LOOKED like chilli sauce: they were red, some were thick, some like the type you eat with "luo mai kai". The 10*, was PINK. Yes, pink! And it was watery. I saw the owner put a few dashes of it on a cracker and offered it to me. I looked at it dubiously, took a smell (nothing but cracker smell) and popped it in my mouth. Chewed. Salty (cracker), and would you believe it: sweet!

I grinned at the bloke and said, "Nice try, mate!" I gave him a thumbs up, and walked off nonchalantly with him staring at me like I was an alien. I guess I probably appeared that way to him.

Not 2 minutes after leaving the stall, the fiercest burning sensation came to my tongue. Holy hell, it felt like I gave birth to Dante's Inferno in my mouth. It was AGONY! For some reason, the chilli had a delayed effect for me, and once the "kick" kicked in, I turned red, gasped, and couldn't talk. My friends, alarmed, hurried me to a corner asking if I was alright. In quiet desperation, I took out my phone and typed: WATER!

30 minutes, 2 bottles of water and 1 pack of milk later, I was back to normal.

Never, ever, disrespect a 10* again. That is the moral of this story.

Re: Fion's - nothing to hold on to, how to move on.

Happy weekend, Ms Fion. Any plans?

I'm not sure how the flu is going, but my having to wake up at obscene hours in the morning to help with a fundraising event for stray animals didn't help it one bit, so we'll see how it goes. My body is telling me that I'm an idiot, and I'm giving it the cold shoulder in dignified retaliation. *snicker*

A walk under the starlit sky after a quiet dinner for 2 sounds lovely, actually. Nothing boring about it at all! I miss the days when I can walk around Singapore with nothing but the company of someone (sadly not a partner) and a bag with water. Wish I could meet someone that shared your interest in star- and moonlit walks.

Though having said that, if you fancied a stroll in KL now, you'd see naught but haze, haze and yet more haze! Woke up at 3 this morning and smelled...smoke. Fun stuff.

Re: Fion's - nothing to hold on to, how to move on.

Omg! Animal lover! ^5

Me help out at the local dog shelter too! Have two furkids of my own as well.

So hard to find people into animal welfare and strolls under the starlit sky!

Fion has a feeling the someone is a furry friend as well, is she rite? Hehehe

Is it that bad in KL? I was there just two weeks ago and will be there again prolly next week for work. I dread it even more then

Omg cool story!!! My tolerance for chilli has increased so much since last year, everything just feels like no kick now. I think I'd go for everything except your Dante's inferno hahahah wtf.

Unfortunately I don't have much of a story. We went on a really shitty "9D ride" which was a waste of 10 bucks and one of the nicer rides, think it was called Speed. Didn't play the games cause I don't like soft toys and they were all silly-looking lol.

I intended to get an Elle showbag anyway, and it was supposed to be 25 bucks but it was 15 bucks that day so lucky me!!!

And the fireworks display omg!!! It makes me feel like all the other fireworks I've seen were just sparklers hahahah wtf.

Re: Fion's - nothing to hold on to, how to move on.

^5, Ms Fion! It's always great to see a fellow animal lover/volunteer. Nothing says "I love you" more than a dog with a waving tail and slobbery kisses.

Hehehe yeah, I'm a cat person who volunteers at a dog shelter. Figures huh? Are your furkids of the canine or feline variety, if I might ask? I keep a cat, who's currently lounging by the fridge asking me when she's getting tuna. *mutters*

The haze problem is on and off, as we speak now, I can smell smoke. The sky, however, is clear, having rained non-stop for 2 hours. So I'm not sure what's happening. Before the rain though, it was very hazy.

Unfortunately, Ms Fion, you're not right about the "someone" being a furkid. Hehehe. It was with my then "godsister", someone that I actually called jie. Due to some bad decisions with the crazy ex, I have lost the right to call her that anymore. No longer wish to keep in touch with me Oh well. We used to walk around orchard all night long, but I wasn't crazy enough to let her talk me into walking back to Yishun from PS. No effing way! lol

Heh, you come to KL often, huh?

That looks like a good haul, prettymannequin

Pity about the rides though. I didn't go on any when I was there, nor did we stay late enough for fireworks (if any), you lucky girl you.

You'll have to indulge the curious cat within me, what's the potted potter thing I spot on the upper right corner of your pic? Anything Harry Potter related?

Geesh, yes I'm a fanboy

Hahaha! I did a 5km last nite and it was nice. Strolling, laughing & chatting under the moon-lite sky. Didn't used to think pple could enjoy doing such stuff but after trying it, let's just say, with the right partner, I wouldn't hesitate to do it again

Kinda romantic actually & provides ample opportunities for a heartfelt conversation with no distraction apart from each other.
