And as for Gareth Barry, I am not quite sure why Rafa is so insistent on getting the Aston Villa man. The central midfield spots are already packed as it is, with Javier Mascherano, Xabi Alonso and of course Steven Gerrard available. Alonso is a proven quality and while I think it’ll be great to get an England player on the team, I am not sure if letting Alonso go is the right thing to do.

Having a solid player like Gareth Barry aint gonna do any harm at all.
He is a proven player who can play a few positions.
Javier is a defensive midfielder, Xabi and Gerrard play alike but the latter is the more aggressive and creative.
Do hope we can get Barry over to strengthen the current squad we have.

we were a disaster against the belgium champs god only noes how we did not lose that game by 4 goals but jus maybe thats a mark of a championship winning team when u get a result despite playing badly,that said we did not look like champions.

Well, I think we can make do without Gareth Barry. He's over-priced. We need to get real talents! Maybe some more spanish/argentine players could make the team! How Alonso performed during Euro was amazing. If he stays, maybe we can see some surprise there.

We’re stepping up our bid for fan ownership of Liverpool FC, and launching a new phase with the backing of LFC legends, celebrities and politicians.

Come and join us at this launch, which is being held before the second leg of the Champions League qualifier on Wednesday 27 August, at the Liverpool Lighthouse, in Anfield, starting at 5.30pm. There will be plenty of time to make it to the match – the Lighthouse is on Oakfield Rd, just 2 minutes walk from the ground, and we’ll be done by 7.00pm.

You’ll hear from Andy Burnham, Secretary of State for Culture, Media & Sport and former Chairman of Supporters Direct, me and other ex-players, as well as Rogan Taylor, board member and founder of ShareLiverpoolFC.

There will also be the chance to ask questions about how it will all work.

The urgency of fan involvement in the club has become acute since the American owners took over. Now saddled with debt, we’ve all read story after story this summer of Rafa trying to sell players to find money to buy new ones. Even the money for Robbie Keane was borrowed, and has been added to the burden on our once financially stable and secure club. Now, apparently, Hicks and Gillet have been unable to agree to put the finance together for the Barry deal which is now dead in the water.

This great Club is losing ground, day by day. If you love LFC, please think about committing to the ShareLiverpoolFC project – either on your own or in a group – or with your time and support. (see Shareliverpool Football Club for more information or to re-register your support).

If you’re already signed up, please pass this invitation to a relative, friend, neighbour or workmate – especially those who might not go on the internet very often.

First half was crap but I thought we played well 2nd half and were on top.

Not much penetration going forward though and we need the Torres-Keane partnership to gel soon. Keane did some good things in the 2nd half but not enough yet.
