Re: My Life experiences

tuxedosam: Thanks for your insight but perhaps you can summarise your views and go straight to the point to make for easier reading?

DO_YOU_BJ: I must admit, I have to struggle to contain my "amusement" when I saw your pix with "orbs". Personally, I can create "orbs" in seconds using Photoshop. But I think it's not right for me to ridicule you. Instead, I should give you the benefit of the doubt. You are entitled to see what you want to see and believe what you to believe. And neither should I call you an imbecile for not seeing what I can see.

colins: Your paraphrasing and taking my examples out of context is a rather amateurish attempt to discredit me. I know all about the doubting Thomas parable, the "believe and you shall see" arguments propagated by the church. I grew up in a Catholic missionary school, my forefathers were Methodists, I have Muslim cousins, and during my college days, I ran off on weekends to sleep over at a Buddhish Vihara to study the Dharma. So I am the last person you would want to debate religion with.

colins & DO_YOU_BJ : While I am tempted to retaliate by using worse expletives than "stupid" or "ignorant", I have to remind myself that I am no longer in primary school so I should not be hasty to descend to your level of "intelligence". Just know that wars have been fought and millions killed because of differing views in beliefs, religious or otherwise. Catholics vs Protestants, Christians vs Muslims, Muslims vs Jews and so on. The irony is this - they all pray to the same God. Calling someone stupid, ignorant or a heretic just because they do not share your same beliefs just shows what small minds you have.

zapme: Thanks for sharing your experience. Initiially I was concerned that you should involve a Catholic with Kuan Yin and all those mediums etc. But in the end, I realise that you have no evil intentions and it's all in the past. Whether she is still Catholic now or Buddhist, I wish both of you well. But if Buddhism is your path, there is Zen, Theravada, Mahayana, Tibetan etc. Pls choose well and try not to mix one with another to prevent from confusing yourself. From your descriptions, there are some elements of Taoism. Unfortunately there is not enough bandwidth in this forum for me to go into details.

Anyway, now that I have a rough idea on the levels of maturity of people contributing to this thread and that there is no way to present differing views without being called stupid, ignorant etc, I should stop here.

For the benefit of all those other silent readers, pls remember that there are also hundreds of pictures of UFO sightings and reports of alien abductions.

But until a UFO lands in my backyard, I am not going to rack my brains on whether they exist or not. Better to worry about how I am going to survive -10C weather while out playing snowballs with my loved one.

To all Christians: Have a blessed Christmas.
To all Buddhists: May you be happy, healthy and free from ill-will.
To all others: Peace and happy holidays.

Re: My Life experiences

billgates, it is hard to believe that you sounded like what you are talking about yet unable to see that I wasn't discussing religion at all. You may have a lot of religious knowledge, whatever it is that you claimed. Sad thing is, either you haven't been applying what you learnt or it is just knowledge for show.

Yes there is no way for your offering of advice not becos they are crap, but becos they are used to bring someone down without you having the patience to read the story. You judged before you see and that is disrespect to TS who had taken the effort to relate his story. I respect what you learnt and your institution, but if it is represented the way you did, you brought shame to whatever you have learnt. I dun even have to attempt on paraphrasing your words to discredit you, you see yourself too high liao. For that matter, I haven't seen anybody crediting you for your posts. Well maybe I shouldn't be seen as being amateurish, so there you go, FUCK YOU UNDERSTAND? Oh...that's sooo pro.

Oh no, I dun literally mean that you are stupid. You dun call a fool stupid becos being stupid also means they won't understand what you mean. Stupid is a derogatory term for you becos I think you are arrogant. It is such an irony that you can be so arrogant for being knowledgeable on teachings for humility. But then after knowing so much and still dunnoe how to apply, you can't be anything but stupid. So you are proven stupid after all, stupid.

For your first 2paragrahs. Hi pal, i think no one is debating on religion here. Sorry if i going to offend you on this, but i just hope that your on the rite track. Having more knowledge or wisdom in a religion, does not make one more superior, it should make the person more kindhearted.

Thanks pal for reading, heard that ur in winter, well its cold but its always nice to be enjoying the time with your family. ENjoy yourself.

Re: My Life experiences

When i was down and out, going against the unseen, living in my greatest fear, Buddha Amituofuo appeared in my dream and helped me. If not how i can i survived this kinda of situation for years, although physically and mentally i am exhausted. Using science, its just a dream, but the dream change me a new person the next day, a dream can be just ur tots or imagination, but a dream will not change a person character and install new knowledge. One example, from fearing and at same time hating the temple spirits to being grateful to them cos if not for them i will not encountered buddhism, in just a nite over a dream.

Comparison only bring negative thoughts(Arrogrance,Jealousy,Greed) to blind the kind heart we all have.

When others have something better regardless of what it is, we should be happy for them, course they are or ever have been very kind and performed great merits this life or past lives to achieve that.

When we understand what is contendness, happiness and peace follow.

I was from a missionary school from Pri to college & hell no way will i ever even talk, less think like this dick head.
Less, till the day you witness it, yes well said, and agreed, shut the fuck up & keep your opinions where the sun dun shine.
Its easy to sit behind the screen and discredit everything you see, ah well, whats the point, you've already made a name for yourself as another internet hero!
No body is debating religion here la kotek, only you.
The debate is what a prick you are and nothing else.
Nice try trying to sway the discussion.....guess now we all know who's the brains and who's the prick!

Hi bro Do_You_Bj,

You have given me real gd advice and analyst. So i do not wish to see u react over plp remarks.

In life is just like that, there will always be people who think they are superior.

We cannot control other people actions, so do not be bothered or be disturbed by others.

What is impt is our own actions.

Its nice chilling weather, try hugging ur special someone and feel the loved, thats something more worth it.

Again thks for the kindest advice u had for me. Your advice plus me relating the whole encountered did helped me reflect and remove the negatives blinding my heart.

Re: My Life experiences

Dun worry my friend, as most lao jiaos who know me in this forum or in person would, you'd have to be really something to tick me off.
I know when i'm in the presence of a looser and thus, no point getting upset over something that even qualifies for your least attention.
So easy to just comment on something behind the screen, not even there to witness or experience anything, this dun say this kooniang, who dunno how to????
I also know.
It just shows the species we're dealing wif here.
That's why i love life, some many kinds of different species to play and fuck around wif, both mentally and psychically, as most would know, my fav past time just like a WL.
Well to each his own, bro Zapme, like i said from the start, you need me for anything related to your circumstances, you can PM me and we can take this offline, like many of the bros in this forum that i've helped.
Just remember, we're alive, we ALWAYS win, unless we already admitted defeat.
Everything else is dead or just a moment in time and CAN BE MANAGED.
Wish you all the best!

P.S: BillGates, since you're a RC, go read the Daily Bread, it'll do you lotsa good!
I wont quote any chapter, the whole book will do you wonders!!!!

Re: My Life experiences

For the record, this is what I actually wrote:
I am not toking cock n bull here, like u, I have researched this supernatural thingy, even spending nights at CCK cemetary during Ghost Month but finding nothing, zilch.

......and.....

I think if these mediums were working in Hollywood, they would be likely candidates for the Emmy Awards under the category "Best Acting Under Possession by Unknown Spirits."

Which our friend colins paraphrased into:
I am not just toking cock & bull here, like you I have attend mass before and visited many churches. But even in the holiest occasions, I have never seen God. I dun even bother to use a camera. I think if these priests were working in Hollywood, they would be likely candidates in the Emmy Awards for "Best Acting for faking God exist".

And then he contradicts himself by saying:
billgates, it is hard to believe that you sounded like what you are talking about yet unable to see that I wasn't discussing religion at all.

Okay, he wasn't talking about religion when he dragged the Church and the name of God into the picture. What, then, is he talking about???

In any case, he broke the 1st and the most important of the 10 Commandments by using the name of the Lord in vain.

....you are contradicting yourself as a Roman Catholic! Why? Becos its your religion so you can allow special concession? Or becos it is another religion so it MUST be based on facts and evidence. Fucking loads of crap and bull, if you ask me.

Maybe if you opened your mind a little bit, you'll see what bro Colin's was actually talking about.
Nope her didnt insult any order, he just used the same pattern of speech like you did on mediums...aka Taoists but applied the Church only.
So did he bring in religion?
No, he didnt, but the reaction you have is exactly what others felt when you posted your thesis on the emmy awards thingy.
Pathetic...real pathetic.......guess i can rest my case liao finally.

Re: My Life experiences

hmph, seems we really can't be civil after all, can we? hahahahaha! never mind...to each his or her own...and that includes the right to be a shit-stirring troll or total prick on the net, i guess...you can't stop people, can you? anyhow, this is just a largely recreational board...i really dun see the need to take everything so damn life-and-death seriously all the time. how much of it can and ought to be treated with any degree of seriousness anyway? no matter. actually had quite a bit of personal experiences and perspectives to share but dun really see how all of that fits in with the current direction of the thread. maybe another day? ermmm, that's if this thread is still active la, heh... had originally intended to contribute my next three cents' worth regarding the TS and his predicament with some honest and direct comments but am just wondering if i'd be crucified for offering a view that seems somewhat divergent from the dominant voice in the thread. hmph, while i may not have had much first- or even second-hand experience with the supernatural, paranormal, occult or whatever you wanna call this sort of non-empirical phenomena, i have spent quite a bit of time dealing with people suffering from a variety of what might be termed mental illnesses. and this has, put simply, included struggles of a personal nature as well. while all this doesn't make me any more qualified to speak about such things than anyone out there, i think it does mean that i am not just speaking from an abstract and uninvolved position, but do have a personal angle to offer and share as well. anyway, this blazing firefight ain't my quarrel at all and like i mentioned earlier, flame wars aren't my cup of tea so maybe it's just better to just withdraw and remain quiet. inconsequential anyway. hey bro TS, if you are for real and dun mind an objective and contrarian position amidst all the ruckus, feel free to PM me if you are so inclined. no matter how much respect one can grant the personal belief systems of anyone (bearing in mind that these are often, by definition, irrational and non-emprical), it still can't be denied that there are many charlatans and quacks out there trying to exploit the naïve and the vulnerable. too many easy paths to 'salvation'...too many eager offers of 'help'... i don't think anyone can offer an ideal or perfect solution for anyone with a 'disturbed' or maladjusted psyche so let's just keep our eyes and minds open but be very careful at the same time.

hey bro billgates (or anyone else), i am very aware of this nick's propensity for lengthy detours, beating about the bush and other vain varieties of textual wanking. it is just the way i write and type, i'm afraid. if i offer an apology, it'd probably be viewed as insincere...so if walls of words do offend your sensibilities, it is also your choice to not to read them. it ain't your loss and it certainly won't be mine either. hmmm...it really doesn't seem like anyone was attempting to engage you in a debate about so-called 'religious' issues but if such matters interest you, i'd be glad to indulge you, subject of course to the constraints placed by the very nature of this forum. looking through your previous posts, i realise that there are folks who have been offended by some of the things you posted elsewhere and the manner by which they were delivered...i could go on but what would the bloody point be? in the same vein, i did honestly find your blanket dismissal of the TS' tale, assuming his was an honest account, a little disturbing. especially when you boasted about how you couldn't even be bothered to go through all his posts here. sure, we all have our prejudices and beliefs but there is no need to hurl them at another person in a rude or arrogant manner. i really believe bro colins was merely pointing out the irony and double-standards implicit in your exhortation for the TS and his GF to seek psychiatric help. on the other hand, i dun think, based just on bro billgates' statements alone, that he really meant any malice so let's not be so quick to pillory him either. he did try to clarify his position later but maybe it's a case of too little, too late. well, if the charge of arrogance, self-righteousness, obstinacy and dogmatism sticks, it surely isn't with him alone. you say probably say the same for attempts to shift the goalposts or ad hominem attacks as well. like it or not, we all have our entrenched positions and inviolable truths and it is entirely possible that these are often based on fallacious, irrational beliefs and not really backed up by empirical facts or the most rational arguments. confronted with overwhelming evidence to the contrary, would we fight or would we flee? we might fall back on our own flawed memories and conveniently recalled experiences to plug this or that gap, attempting to assuage the cognitive dissonance we feel, but at the end of the day, is it only the inviolable, objective and external truth that still stands? or our stubborn dogmas and inflexible visions? nobody has a monopoly on hubris or arrogance and while we may be supremely self-confident about our beliefs and perceptions, that hardly means they are always right all the time.

would stay around for the debate but got a flight to catch...if i can hunt down some wi-fi (though it's supposed to be an internet-free trip), will definitely continue to tune in with my phone. and please, let us all agree to disagree in a civil manner, as per the TS' wishes. in the meantime, i wish the bro TS and everyone else well. happy holidays.
