I'll bring it home and try to scan it.. however given the dark colour, I doubt it'll be a successful scan.. no harm trying though....

My mom asked her friend to bring back something from Thailand, knowing that I like Thai amulets... It resembles a scroll with lotsa writings on it, nicely curled up and tucked into a small tube-like bottle with 2 rings for hanging on a chain.. will try to take a pic or scan and post it here...

Looking to meet up with you..

Looking to meet up with you..

Thats known as a Takrut, or u can call it a "Fu" in chinese terminology. The writings within are the yant scripts that are written for specific purposes. PLease DO NOT open up the scroll. The takrut is useless after that, as a general rule of thumb, the written script written within would determine if you are able to wear the takrut below your waist, its a sign of respect so if you are unsure, just wear it on your shirt pocket or neck if you have a chain.=)

Meet up ah?ehhhh i don't think you can or want to now lah.
coz i in Australia till end of the year.heehee.=P

As for scanning the kring, u try to take it out from the casing and alternate scanning with or without the cover on to see the results.I am not sure too coz havent used a scanner much in my life!heehee just some thoughts!=D

Oic... so that'a a takrut.. I've been wondering what a takrut meant as I've read it off somewhere in another forum discussiing about Thai amulets... Luckily I did not open it as I was really curious how it actually looks like.. Thanks for the advice...
I wear all my amulets on my neck... cos' I don't wanna show any disrespect as they have been protecting me well...

Well, in that case, we'll juz hafta wait till you return from down under...

I've brought back the Phra Kring from my office, let me try scanning and see how the effect goes.. lousy and aging scanner though... hahaha....

As promised, tried scanning the kring with casing on but the effect is less than desirable.. so mustered some courage (I've not tried taking out any casing before) and open up the casing...

I noticed some Thai wordings at the back of the "lotus seat" and some scripture scribblings at the base of the "lotus seed"... don't know what those are for though...

The pics are about the best I could manage:
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/takero...=/1e02&.src=ph

I have my Somdej, Takrut and Barang inside the album.. Together with Jatukam, Buddha Sattawa, and LP Koon, that's about all I have...

I am unable to view the scripts at the bottom and back of the amulet due to the poor imagery. No worries, since u are wearing it and it has protected u well, theres no real need to verify where it is from.
Is there a chop or a circular symbol at the bottom?isit an animal or a wheel?=)

oh you are wearing a loop om from Wat puthaisirwan right?the one ball like thing with the red letters.

Happy collecting!

There is a circular symbol at the base.. Can't make out what is is but it definitely isn't a wheel.. looks more like a curled up Koala or oversized mouse... hahaha...

For the Loop Om, I don't know what it's for but it kinda attracted me when I first set sight on it... I was scared of the red letters initially bit can't help thinking of it... so called the seller and arrange to buy it...

BTW, I just came home... I've just gotten a 1 inch Jatukam statuette from the same seller... damn nice...show you the pics tomorrow...I intend to place it on my desk in the office... Hopefully collegues are not offended by it...

i await your post of pics!=D
If its like what u said, like a mouse, theres a chance its made by LP Kasem, his birthyear is mouse also and some of his amulets bear this trademark.
His temple has a big mouse too infront.hehe
But like i said, theres a chance it is, i am not sure how to verify it.

cheers!

Re: Thai Amulets...

Hi all bros, today (15/10) I went to my usual frequent temple, Kancanaram temple to pray. Place was still under renovation. While i was doing my prayers, I noticed some nice thai chicks sitting infront of a monk, who is performing prayers for them. After tat they will use those water to bathe. I've done that before. Seems like a lot of ppl are coming in to have a blessed shower. I was told this is for helping u to rid bad luck. Any bro can provide info and the significant of this showering? Thanks.

Cheers

Hi,

I will PM you the price of the statuette instead of posting here cos' I have to respect his price idea and it wouldn't be nice to post here...

He does not have an outlet but he does have a lot of things as he travels to Thailand frequently and knows the local well..

Please refer to the following link and see if there's anything that interest you..
