Re: Shanghai "In Conversation" - Medical Assistances Info

Seeking medical help on foreign land can be really a pain especially on a 'cow-boy' land like China. Been here for coming 5 years, I, myself health is always not in the pinkiest state so have been going to several medical faclilities, both local & foreign operations. After many tries, I would recommend the following medical facility to all bros should you fall ill or would like to seek for other medical consultation; FuDan Hua Shan Hospital, Foreigners' Outpatient Clinic (15th Floor) Chinese name: 复旦大学附属华山医院, 外宾门诊部门 Tel:021 - 6248 3986 / 021 - 624 9999 (24 Hours) Address: On Chang Le Road, near junction of Wu Lu Mu Qi Road. Medical Personnel Ratings: Doctors : 7/10 (speaks fluent or fairly good english, clean looking & polite) Nurses : 7/10 (ditto as above) NOTE: All medical personnel bears an English name i.e. Dr. Micheal Wang or for nurse i.e. Jessica Li. Overall rating of the clinic: Equivalent standard in terms of medical attention, cleaniless of environment & service as to Mount Elizabeth of S'pore's standard. Normal medical consultation charges (excl. medication) at approx. RMB 150 nett (or eq. to SGD$30.00 per consultation) Hope the above info would be of great use to bros here & most of all providing great assurance to all bros that the least on our health matters are still being taken care of, somehow. Best regards to all bros,

Bro linpehgaligong, you are indeed a lucky star to have attracted Bro SPG69's attention! He's a busy man... lotsa activities and work and "family commitments"! When Bro SGP69 speaks, LISTEN!!! Kapeesh?!?! hahahaha.... Bro SGP69 would know more about medical services here in Shanghai, having been here much longer and is way up on the list of active veterans. He's the man to ask about cheonging and any other misc stuff anyone may have regarding Shanghai. He organizes regular cheonging gatherings for bros here and should you need "company", brotherly or otherwise, Bro SGP69 is THE MAN! ![]() For Sagely advices about "General Information Regarding Life", we have Bros like PuTonRen, Shengge amongst others.... you will see them as time goes by... don't worry... Me galigong, bro SGP69 definitely is the person that know the inside out about Shanghai. A leader. Me galigong, you are a nice guy around that always willing to offer your assistance. A helper. Me galigong, I like this sort of people in life, follower is also OK but not those always expecting ones to do all the things for himself. So to me, you are not Noobie....Mai Ket Ki! |

I don think it is about bro linpehgaligong being lucky, it is about bro SGP69 being a very capable guy, know Shanghai very well. For me, I really have nothing much to advice on what you have mentioned here. After all, people like to listen to happy story, erotic encounter then my 'salty vegetable' life. So no point making other miserable too lah. On top of that, those that I have experienced already gone into the history book liao. These days, most bros look very smart and adventurous. Can you be specific about the sort of bridging function you offer? Cheers!

Good Day. I fully understand your situation.I think it worth a little bit of understanding on how the medical system work here, after all I don't want to see you die here........... ![]() Procedures as such: 1) collect nos (this is not queue nos) 2) see doctor (depending on the hospital, for some you just went straight into the doctor room, cut the queue as when the doctor is available, other may have a row of queuing chairs outside the room) 3) pay for your blood test fee (with the receipt then you can go for the blood test) 4) see doctor again 5) pay for medicine fee 6) collect your medicine This is the standard and shortest way. There was once, I have to see the doctor for 4 times, as I have to go thru, blood test, X-ray, injection and dripping, plus medicine................for fever. As you can see the situation, the poor will normally prescribe from pharmachy and one thing I realised that all local are very knowledgeable on the medicine for various sort of illness. Hospitalization can be a very bad experience as well. But I will not going to that now. Due to the huge population in China, their behind medical function and welfare system, it may take some times for this to be changed. I am sure it will become better. Cheers!

If Bro linpehgaligong is not lucky, the Bro SGP69 will not even view this thread, let alone give his valuable advice right? There is however no doubt the Bro SGP69 is a very capable guy who knows Shanghai very well.. that much is already known by anyone who reads the Shanghai Recommendation Thread (well.. that's just about every samster in or intending to visit Shanghai.. hahaha) As for the "bridging" function that I do, it is primarily to link up bros with similar "interests" or needs with someone who "knows" the ropes.. me being a noobie knows nuts... hahahaha... right? For example, you wanted to travel back to Singapore.. well..you can use this thread to see if anyone else wants to travel at about the same time.. For Bros looking for nice place to eat, the thread becomes a medium to "inform" the rest... etc etc On hindsight, it is the thread that is the bridge and not me.. hahahah.... I merely started it and provide whatever little information that I might come across in my mundane life... If I have things or know people who will be able to provide the "help" required, then I will serve as the bridge and connect the bros... Anyway, thanks for your inputs! Will up you when I can!! Re: Shanghai "In Conversation" Views, News & Reviews
Had a sprained neck recently. Went to this hospital (at Huaihai Rd, near Hongkong Plaza) known as the best TMC hospital in Shanghai. Saw the doctor (a professor), showed him the X-ray film (taken from a district hospital the day before) and straight away he could tell me my problem (the doctor I saw the day before knew nuts about my problem)! Told me to lie on the bed facing down. He gave me shouder, neck and upper back tui na. Then he told me to sit on a chair. He put his hand across my head (like a wrestler doing a lock hold) and without any warning or hesitation, he twisted my neck! C-R-A-C-K!!! My accompanying local colleague and driver were both shocked and awed! The cracking noise was so loud it could be heard outside the consultation room! Next thing I felt, the pain from my neck was magically gone!!!

Re: Shanghai "In Conversation" Views, News & Reviews
Like to share my experience in Kunshan hospital.
Not me but mm went for check up for some sickness.(women problem). Was there and their test lab was horrible. It is open lab, only a counter seperate the test lab and the patient. Everything is open even the test sample have no cover. I even saw a nurse carry samples to the test lab like delivering coffee/tea to customer. I alway bring along a pack of panadol when I travel, which is the best medicine. |

Couldn't checked the forum as much as I want to as u understand. Sianz.. As I do not have a laptop or PC at home so a bit difficult...and my apologies if I can't seem to be contactable or just talk cock like last time.... Ok anyway for cheap airtickets, I do not have any good lobang but most of the time I get it from Ctrip Sometimes when I took the bus service back from the airport, someone is there to give out this blue booklet and a membership card...u just need to log on n register. I find them to be quite reasonable price as I did called for their service when I travel back to SGP or korea last year. And they will deliver the tix to your office or residence too. I did check around with a few other agencies but differences only maybe 50-100rmb... Hopes this will help some bros out here.... One more thing...anyone got lobang for a laptop?? besides the computer mart in hong kong plaza and Xujiahui Meilo chen. cheers nongho |

I am looking at the sha-sin ticket. Anyway, thanks for the info, I do not travel by plane often with China. I am under local term....so I take train only........haha. About laptop, I think it is neccessity for those that travel around. My suggestion is that you can get IBM from SGP, they are generally cheaper than in China. A more stable laptop pc, get the 3 years warranty package, you will not have much problem in Shanghai. Their after sales service is OK. Remarks : I don't work for IBM. Well, generally this are the two places that sell computer, I don't have any lobang with any of this shops. However, if you want to buy a handphone here, I do know a shop, their price is generally cheaper than market rate by a few hundred RMB. Cheers!
