I reckon it's because during each gathering, there are bound to be a couple of attendees who are immature, childish or loser.
When these people are unable to get things their way or to their advantage, jealousy seeps in. Jealousy turned into hatred. Eventually, they resort to creating new accounts to sabotage.
This is how immature/childish/loser behave to satisfy their inner strong inferiority complex.
