In all the games he played in for LFC.... he was a shadow of his old self........ comparing to the performance he produced while appearing for NU earlier in the season....... but I feel his best form so far was during the 2009/2010 season when NU were in the Coca-Cola Chanpionship...... his goals all no horse run leading to Newcastle United to runaway with the Championship title that year.
Totally agree. Not too many new players please, wait spoil the harmony we have now. We just need 1 good player for back (ok, maybe 2), 1 in mid and 1 in front will be enough with GJ pushing up to mid and DK can push up to front to nack up AC & LS.
For back, when kelly comes back, together with flanagan, carra, MS, DA and Greek will be total of 6 (excl GJ whom i feel should push up to mid). Add in 2 more will have 8 defenders.
Mid already have SG, LL, RM, MR, GJ (after being push up), DK (when not helping up front), Spearing and Jonjo which is total of 8. With one more good midfield, we will have 9. Dats quite a lot. After the 2 young guys get so much playtime these past one or two months, hope they can continue to play active role next year, especially spearing (dun like jonjo so much).
Upfront is AC & LS (not counting DK). With a good front signing we will have 3. And i tink Ngog still around as last resort.
I feel this will be enough. If any more than this, will start having unhappiness in the squad with rotation issues coming up, etc. Important thing is to buy quality, not quantity. In fact, I will be happy with just one good defender and one good midfield. Let DK (and in fact even MR) help out in front where necessary. We must build on the current team, not re-build the team.

Depth. If you want to challenge, you must have it. Squads win championships. Look at the top 5 ahead of us. Look at the starter in our team and ask, will you trust him to challenge for the title? Then the second choice, the same question.
It's not about rotation or unhappiness. You must have players who are good enough and yet hungry enough to get their chance on merit. The work of the manager is to keep them hungry.
Defence we are fine. But we are horrible in attack - first, we need to get rid of the deadwood like Milan and even Cole. It's been the story of Pool all along these few seasons. We need a bit of trickery and quality on the flanks, and also some goals from there. I hope Clarke is referring to players like Young when he says 3-4/1-2.
MInd you adding depth is not rebuilding, so thats not the issue here. We can still have our established and emerging players, but we must put a guy behind them just as good.

MJ is leaving so no problem there but JC is too expensive for most clubs. He was offered to BPL newcomers QPR for a nominal sum but they cannot even afford to pay 1/4 of his wages.
Unless the rich clubs want him, looks like he will be stuck with us next season.

tat's the common problem with free signing.
they sound "free" cos we pay no transfer fee, but tat oso means that they'ld demand a high wages, which will become a problem when the club wan to "dispose" them later..
