100% agree!!
But I guess that's just what one needs to put up with to avail oneself of pretty consistent good quality and service.

I most times just hang around a cafe like Mito's or DJ taste nearby to wait for the phone call when its all set up - but even this many times don't work as the manager/mommy are always under so much pressure to "put up the goods"and will succumb to the demands (or bribes) of those waiting around on premises - and probably barking out their own frustrations. What to do....???!!

Yh sauna most probably one of the better ones in town. Used to love staying in yh but due to new room booking system was a bit cheesed off last trip. Basically what happens is that yh hotel rooms majority are allocated to the mgrs so say if u 'book' for a week stay u are only guaranteed ur room for 2 days. What the mgr told me was just ignore them and say u are extending so every two days u will be changing ur key card and if u are out of the room after 12 u are basically locked out until u change the key card

Can anyone advise me where can I get a samsonite hardcase luggage in cp? Nv shop there before. Saw lots of luggage dem cheap on Tao bao. Possible to ask two ao ship to hotel?


And btw, anyone care to share which K experience they had best on Xmas eve in cp?

Yes, Virgin is on the main hotel strip Zhong Yuan street. In between the Miraton and the Hui Mei.

Hotel Price is I think mid 200's - but best to check this with the agents here/check their websites for the different pricing for the various type rooms/day of week etc.

Please note that in most cases, all brands of suitcases in Chang Ping/lots of parts of China are fakes/copies. Mind you, they're usually very good copies - but copies they still are.

If you are prepared for this and still want to get a pretty good deal on luggage, then go to the 2/f of the Huaren Shopping mall (Next to the new LCC mall - BTW - anybody know what LCC stands for? Lousy Chinese Crap?? LOL!) - there's a couple or so stores there that caters to the buying pattern of us foreign mongers and stock better quality fakes. Look at it VERY CAREFULLY - especially the alignment of its locks, sturdy Zippers, heavy duty wheels bolted on properly, handles well anchored etc etc. Fakes/copies are NOT subject to any quality control and each piece is subject to its own vagaries/defects and its up to you to figure out which piece is acceptable.

If you want cheaper versions, go downstairs to the Ladies Walking street - a few luggage shops offering all sorts of suitcases amongst all the dress shops.

And BTW - the best time to go shopping in CP is Sunday afternoon when all the ladies are already flush with their taking during the week-end nights and they're all out there shopping - LOL! Lots of eye candy to make your shopping trip interesting!

Sorry - holiday season is when I am "required" to stay close to home and hearth, so to call, and do not go up as often as during the rest of the year. So chances are not great.

But I do try to sneak up for a quick trip when I can - after all, Christmas, New Year, Chinese New year - OMG -they're all quite bunched up aren't they!

Copy samsonite may cost you cheaper but the handling and lasting will be far from the original ....

Go get the original if you travel alot .... sure worth back the money.
