I will be celebrating the festival with my wife and some relatives who are coming over for the traditional mooncake feast.
Yes, we make our own mooncakes, having learn the culinary art from my brother-in-law who is a chef in Hong Kong.
We avoid those sold in shops (Tai Chong Kok) and hotels (Goodwood Park, Grand Hyatt, Man Fu Yuan, Marina Bay Sands) as they contain high levels of preservatives. Just think about it: how can mooncakes free of additives/preservatives have shelf lives of 1 month? 3 months?
