Evidence collected by welfare organisation Vinnies shows the housing crisis has now hit people not traditionally affected by homelessness such as low income or casual workers.
Vinnies chief executive Michael Perusco said the rise in first-time homelessness was deeply concerning.

"We are seeing a much greater increase in first-time homelessness," he said.
