So the important point to take note is not whether Sunbelt Asia is reliable but the business you are going to takeover. Brief FR of the place and procedures. Went to the office and they asked me what type of businesses I am interested to takeover and also budget. Then they will tell me to sign an undertaking that I am not allowed to negotiate on personal terms with the owners without going through them. All the blah blah shit. Then after signing, they gave me some businesses to look through and also their location and the price they offering me. In my opinion, this sunbelt asia targets mainly expats, foreigners who are interested to set up business in Thailand. Of course taking over an existing business is easier for many, but I feel it isn't. The takeover fees are quite high. Of course Sunbelt Asia staff also have to eat. But then most of those businesses which they said, were sometimes due to poor management skills by the owners, going back countryland reasons, etc. In real life, if a business is so profitable, why would you want to give it up? Of course paying the takeover fees is some sort like buying over the customer base and also equipment, but to think of it, the "fun part" of a business is also in the setting up of it. Sometimes I wonder, if the previous owner already failed at it, what makes people think that if I takeover, things will turn for the better? And one more thing to consider, if you are going to start up a business and earn 50K baht a month on profits, I think its not really worthwhile. To the Thais, 50K is a lot, but then again we are foreigners in a foreign land. If going to earn 50K, I can earn that money easily in SG. What I look at is if I going to do a business in thailand, I am going to aim for at least 100K baht a month in profits, at least I see something. Because doing business requires a lot of time, effort in it. So the amount must also be substantial to what I can get in SG, if not why bother setting up a business in thailand? Hope this helps SC

Re: Sunbelt Asia
Thanks for the effort. I'm aware that Sunbelt is a business broker. I'm just wondering when they claim certain businesses are generating XXX profits they are telling the truth. And I wonder who much their brokerage is.

As for brokerage, I think its considerable as you should see how big is their office and the expats they employing. They do employ local staff too. I supposed they earned quite a considerable amount of money cos I keep bumping into this farang employee of theirs in ratchada, clubs and often with different girls. ![]() SC

Re: Sunbelt Asia
That surely is a good indicator of their 'cut-throat' profits.

Re: Sunbelt Asia
A large porportion of foreigners, the men usually, coming into Thailand are likely to land into the middle of the sex and night entertainment industry. Sun Belt knows this very well.
Many want to invest and set up shop in Thailand chiefly because of the 'Sanuk' factor. Broker or not, homework has to be done by the investor himself/herself from understanding the culture in both business and personal aspects and taking the right action to make a business successful. SC has made a good observation about B$50k a month and B$100k a month. Really successful investors choose to make money from a multitude of businesses where each business yields B$50k a month. |

"Promises" of Annual Profit SGD20-30K is equivalent to around 480K-730K Baht. Listen can. Best is to sit nearby the location and observe the traffic flow lor. Sign the Sunbelt Asia undertaking agreement will enable you to see the database of businesses letting go. But sometimes things don't look as rosy as the way people described too. Can't blame them, they got to eat too. As for buying condos and renting out, the low range hovers around 500K baht and you can rent out roughly 3500-4000baht a month, while the high range ones at SUKHUMVIT can rent out at least 50K baht up per month. However, the price is also at 15-20million baht. Nothing looks easy. SC
