Thumbs up FT spits on Policeman .......... fined, no jail.....what if FT spits on judge?

An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:

A British editor of Tiger Airways’ inflight magazine was fined $10,000 by the court today (13 Jun) for spitting on a police officer.

Forgan Duncan had pleaded guilty to spitting on the face of officer Walid Jamblatt Abdullah on 19 December 2012 at about 1am.

The 34-year-old was found lying on the ground along Spottiswoode Park Road, having had many drinks before making his way back to his residence.

Two police officers, who were notified, checked on him.

Duncan however challenged the officers to arrest him. He was then handcuffed before he turned and spat on officer Walid Jamblatt’s face.

Duncan’s lawyer said his client was “extremely remorseful, unconditionally apologetic and thoroughly ashamed for his conduct”.

The prosecution had pressed for a custodial sentence, but District Judge Ronald Gwee said a high fine would suffice.

He could have been been jailed up to 4 years for his action.
