Kim Song & Sylvia Lim on Net photos: This is a non-issue to us

In a joint statement sent to the media yesterday (1 Aug), Quah Kim Song and Sylvia Lim said that the photos on the Net showing Mr Quah embracing an unidentified Filipino-looking woman “is a non-issue to us”.
After Ms Lim and Mr Quah, confirmed to the media last Sat (27 Jul) that they have been dating for about six months, a series of photos showing Mr Quah with the unidentified woman began to circulate on the Net. The photos first appeared in an online forum thread with the heading, “please do not show this thread to Sylvia Lim”.
They both met at the WP’s variety show, “Bricks In Blue”, in Jan this year and became close after that. Mr Quah is a widower with two children.
In the statement, Ms Lim said the photos were taken in the past and asked who didn’t have a past?
“We will look forward to the future, the the times we will be spending together,” she said.
The couple also confirmed that Mr Quah had told Ms Lim about the woman before they dated.
Mr Quah said he and the woman in the pictures were dating for a year, but they went their separate ways about one and a half years ago.
He said, “We tried dating, but things didn’t turn out well, so we went our separate ways.”
“I have not been in contact with her for the past one and a half years. I don’t even know whether she has changed her handphone number.”
The photos appear to have been uploaded onto the Net by the woman last year.
Interestingly, on the same online forum thread where the photos first appeared, Mr Goh Meng Seng, who was formerly a WP member and candidate in 2006 GE and formerly NSP secretary-general and candidate in 2011 GE, commented:
People never learn here.
It is strange that Sylvia Lim didn’t use her usual WP’s “no comment” style when approached about this little romance. It is after all a private matter. She has basically put herself in a very vulnerable position with this literal admission of dating romance. I don’t think she even know who exactly she is dating except that he is a former soccer star.
This is just a brew for disaster in the making… sigh.
And later while defending his position on the thread, he added:
Get real and face the facts. One by one, WP MPs will prove to be disastrous. From Ministerial salary debate MX 9 (Gerald Giam) to plagiarism (Pritam), to YSL saga, Secret Squirrel Saga (Png EH), Ceiling Saga (SL, Pritam & LTK) to vote buying saga (Pritam)…. rest assure that these aren’t the end of the tunnel. We will start to see Romance saga next. Yes, of course, there is a force behind all these but no, you can’t have all these if there aren’t any feeds from WP itself.
PAP is on its offensive and it is coming fast and furious. Wonder who is the director behind them…. but dirty as it hits below the belt. Just too bad, WP MPs got all their priorities wrong… keeping mum when they need to speak, responded when they should just shut up. Time to refill my popcorns.
