BLACKBOX SURVEY: MOST SINGAPOREANS THINK THE PAP WILL WIN MORE VOTES THAN IN 2011

Post date:

According to a survey by Blackbox Research, Singaporeans in different areas have different perceptions of whether they think the PAP will win more votes than they did in the last election.

In general however, there is still a majority who believe that the PAP will win more votes in the next election.

The survey took responses from over 3,000 residents representative of Singapore’s population, between October and December 2014.

73% of those in the central area said that the PAP would probably get the same or more votes than last election while the other 27% said that they would probably do worse than in 2011.

In the East, 54% said the PAP would probably perform better than last election.

62% of Residents in the North said that they thought more people would vote PAP than in 2011 and 65% in the North-East said the same.

In the West, 60% felt the PAP would get more votes.

Overall, a majority of respondents felt that the PAP would probably get more votes than it did in 2011 when it only won 60.1% of the valid votes in Singapore.

In terms of the specific issues which the respondents felt the government has done poorly in, the top concern was cost of living, followed by COE prices, Housing affordability and population management.

Areas where respondents felt the government has been doing a good job include National Defence, care for the environment, racial harmony and education.

Some issues which Singaporeans are happier with now compared to the start of 2014 include public transprot qualit, jobs and government accountability.

Issues which Singaporeans felt more unhappy with now compared to last year included the crime rate and the CPF system.
A full list of the findings can be found in the Blackbox Research report here.
