Forty people have been arrested and action taken against 14 establishments after police raided public entertainment outlets in various parts of Singapore.
The enforcement operation took place over three days at 36 public entertainment outlets at Jalan Besar, Kitchener Road, Foch Road, Dalhousie Lane, Jalan Sultan, Beach Road, Middle Road, Duxton Road and New Bridge Road, the Singapore Police Force said.
The operation, led by officers from the Central Division, saw a total of 300 people checked at the entertainment outlets between May 13 and 15. The 40 suspects, aged between 19 and 52, were arrested for criminal and employment-related offences.
Action was taken against 14 establishments for flouting licensing conditions. Investigations are still ongoing, SPF said.
Between January and May this year, the police said they have conducted enforcement operations against “
numerous errant operators” of massage establishments in Chinatown, Bugis, Little India, Beach Road, Lavender Street, Jalan Sultan, Jalan Besar, North Bridge Road, South Bridge Road and Coleman Street.
Seven entertainment outlet directors and their licensees, as well as 11 operators of unlicensed and licensed massage parlours, will be charged in court on Wednesday, the police added.
