In a country whose second prime ministar promised more than 15 years ago a Swiss standard of living for his subjects, it's a startling revelation that an estimated 420,000 Sinkies need food donations from charities in order to have a decent quality of life.

One wonders what has happened to all the funds that ComChest collected in the name of charity and whose donations by the public are matched dollar for dollary by the Sinkie gabrament? Have the funds been pilfered by corrupt officials?

"Employees are digging deeper into their pockets and giving more to charity each month.

Some 221,900 workers contributed a total of $16.3 million from their salaries to the Community Chest (ComChest) last year, up from $14.5 million in 2013, according to figures released by the National Council of Social Service yesterday.

Meanwhile, the Government launched its Share As One programme yesterday, which will see it match any increase in annual donations dollar for dollar.It took effect at the start of the new financial year last month and aims to encourage more people to donate and volunteer."

Moreover if the Sinkie gabrament had implemented effective controls over how its ministries disburse funds, the hundreds of millions of SGD discovered "missing" by the Auditor-General in 2015 and 2016 could have been used to feed these hungry Sinkies.
